If you need a basic guide to get started on your trip to Los Angeles, just check out these neighborhoods and landmarks for things to do and places to see. Nightlife: Visit the infamous Sunset Strip (Sunset Blvd. between Crescent Heights and Doheney Dr.) or discover the revived Cahuenga Corridor nightlife in Hollywood. Keep an eye out for the LA Weekly, as this free publication lists pretty much everything that’s happening in Los Angeles. Of course, to be in the know about the true celebrity hotspots you’ll just have to do some digging or make a few friends, because those clubs definitely don’t need to advertise.

Shopping: For the young and painfully hip, try Melrose Ave. (between Fairfax and La Brea) for alternative fare or The Grove and the famous Farmer’s Market on Third Street for the more mainstream.
